Ralph Nieuhauser letter to Mrs. F.A. Nieuhauser, 1918 Oct. 10.

Ralph Nieuhauser writes on Hotel McAlpin, New York City, stationery, to his parents in St. Paul, Minn., that he saw a great show called "Fiddlers Three" at the Cort Theater, and that he has spent "a young fortune" in buying "everything that the list" said he had to have "before they would let us sail." He is sending home "a bag containing a lot of stuff that we ain't allowed to take including my violin." He expects to sail the next week, having passed his physical overseas exam. They are scheduled to march up Fifth Avenue in a Liberty Loan parade, dressed in their overseas clothes.
